This month I am focusing on two particular days and one specific girl. The first day we met she was curious about who we were, as we pulled in and began to set up the chairs we noticed two young girls standing in the distance, surveying all that was happening. As we began to speak to the locals, soon the girls hung around a little closer, and we enjoyed getting to hear the hearts of locals, these girls soon began wanting to know more about us. Our interactions less forced as it became normal to converse with the translator app. Pretty soon, church was about to start, and as we led worship, with the community, I looked all throughout the crowd and saw many hungry souls, eagerly awaiting to be taught the truth of the Word. It didn’t matter how old the people were, they displayed a general draw to know what was in this book. As Jessie (the leader of this micro church) instructed our group to begin worship I felt a pair of brown eyes looking up at me, I looked down and she gently slid her hand into my hand, worshipping in front of the entire body that was present. From that moment on she was either next to me, Gwen, or Samantha. We had kids ministry and she joined right in, answering questions and singing more songs. Her eyes sparkled as we passed out food to those who came to the service. She had a genuine appreciation for what we offered her and she took it with much delight. Before we said goodbye, a gentle poke to get a smile became a tickle fight and a photo, to remember my day with the beautiful curly haired daughter of the King. Upon returning a few days later, I see the two daughters peeking through the barbwire fencing just waiting for us to get close enough. As Samantha and I work our way underneath the shady trees, it was a sanctuary from the heat. Our feet upon the gray colored dust, we were ready for what today was going to hold. Out of the corner of my eye, I see two little sisters eagerly running with joy spread across their faces towards us. Woosh! The Daughters of the King cling to us! It was a picture of Jesus letting the little children come to Him with open arms. In that moment, I forgot where I was, who I was around, but what mattered is that this child was seen, loved and valued through Christ,, by allowing me to give her a koala hug right back. That was a moment on the race that will forever be etched in my brain, as well as upon my heart. During the message with the kids, she would take my hand and point for me to sit in the chair next to her. It was almost as if she was saying, “You’re my new friend and I want you to be hanging around with me for a long time!” The rest of the afternoon was filled with joy and the Spirit gave me eyes to see more of these people, just how He made and equipped them for the tasks that He knows they do well. Always asking us to go deeper with Him. How will you choose to go deeper with Jesus this week and see who He’s showing you to love on? Much love!
